RELEASE DATES and How They Work
So you're wondering when my books will release...
Hey everyone! Virgil here, and today I'm going to take a moment to explain how I handle release dates. I will maintain this scheduling for as long as I can, and one day I hope even to accelerate it, but for now, as I still have a full-time job, this is the best I can manage until I sell enough books to quit or go part-time.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
I set my release dates to the same two dates EVERY month, in hopes that my fans will become familiar with the dates and every time that they come up they will instinctively check Amazon for a new release. The two dates are:
The 14th and the 28th of every month!
So, for example, August is my very first release month, and in that month I have the first books of my first two series coming out. Billy the Barbarian 1 is coming out on the 14th, while Esoterica 1 is coming out on the 28th. The following month will see two additional books release.
Can I handle this release schedule? The short answer is YES, I believe I can. At the moment I've already completed 6 books, which gives me three months of buffer in which I'm guaranteed to meet my own self-imposed deadline. When I am at my best, I am writing about 30,000 words per week with relative ease, meaning a novella just about every week if I push myself, or a full-sized novel every two to two-and-a-half weeks.
So, that makes it sound like I should be releasing even more often than I am, but the truth is I can't write like that every week because I have to take some time to edit books, work with beta readers, and read to refuel my creativity. I also sometimes need to take time to work on my problem areas and plot books ahead, but I feel pretty sure that I can maintain at least two novellas every month for a while, and if I notice myself struggling, I'll deal with that as we go, or if I end up working far, far ahead of my schedule (a possibility!), then I may have surprise double-release days from time to time.
Anyway, please remember to buy my books! Subscribe to the mailing list, too! That's the most important thing you can do for me right now. I sincerely hope you all enjoy my books, because being able to survive off of my fiction would be a dream come true, and something I've been gearing toward for a while now.
Thank you!
